My Students

Did you dream of going to college when you were a teenager? My high school students are well on their way to being future college students. My biggest challenge to getting them into college is helping them increase their ACT scores.

My students attend a large Title 1 school in a rural community.

Many of them have never been out of our town. The school pools students from the largest geographical area in the entire state. Most of the students in our school qualify for free or reduced lunch.

My Project

We serve 1400 kids in our region and the goal for our school this year is to increase their ACT scores. In our state, if a student gets a high enough ACT score and has good grades they can attend an in state college for free. The students in my Algebra 2 class are on course to graduate from high school and potentially attend college. The books we will receive through this grant will allow us to prepare for the ACT test questions every day by integrating them into our lessons.

In a survey of my classes I have found that a majority of my students would be the first person in their family to attend college.

With the use of the ACT review books, my students will have a fighting chance to go to college and have it paid for through the state.
