Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What an amazing group of individuals I have taught for the past two years. I have watched them flourish while being challenged in the AP US History course. I have one more year to challenge their academic prowess before they leave for college.

These students come from families that struggle financially but want their children to receive a stellar education.

To meet this dream they have chosen to place their sons and daughters in the AP program. However, my school does not have funds to provide challenging text for these students. They are in need of resources and support that is a normal part of a well funded suburban middle class high school. I will continue to strive for their continued success.

My Project

These materials will become part of our nightly instructional reading. Each student needs support at home and these collections of reading in American democracy will supply that need. Each reading will provide the evidence for our classroom Socratic seminars. Each student will learn how to gather and support evidence to prove an argument. These readers will help them complete that investigation at home.

By providing one more year of academically challenging material these students will be able to thrive during their freshman year in college.

Each student in the AP course will have skills gained through this project's resources which will guide them well in college courses.
