My Project

I am a Language Arts teacher at a middle school in New York City. The population of my school and class is very diverse. Over 95% of my school's population receives free lunch, which is a strong indicator that the overwhelming majority of students come from lower-level income households. This, however, doesn't slow us down. Not one bit.

I have an incredible group of resilient students who have a hunger for reading.

As an ELA teacher, I’m constantly trying to find books that are interesting and engaging for my students, but this is a challenging task. My classroom library needs a variety of high-interest reading materials all hand-picked by - you guessed it - my students!
