My Project

My high school International Baccalaureate students will bring their process journals/sketchbooks on a field trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. We will learn about the environment and then create sketches using both graphite pencils and colored pencils. Upon our return to the classroom, we will use the new linocut blades, the printing ink, and other tools, and the Japanese papers to create block prints.

One of the goals of the International Baccalaureate program is to focus on Effective Teamwork and Communication.

Thus, my students in all three of my classes will work together to produce a group panel using their prints. These panels will be on display in our school’s hallways with the goal of raising the environmental awareness and appreciation of all of our seven hundred students.
