My Project

My students are going through a lot of changes while attempting to figure out their own emotions. First grade is a big change from Kinder. Big yard, more independence, big emotions, and more skills mean there are new challenges to face both academically and socially.

Therefore, these resources and activities about compassion can help cultivate an emotionally safe environment, and ease the way students are feeling.

These items - card making kits and seals, a book, the encouragement plushies, and snacks- really would help them to meet those challenges.

Card making kits would encourage students to consider the feelings and experiences of their peers. By creating personalized cards for those going through a rough time, students learn to step into the shoes of others and understand how their actions can positively impact someone else's day.

Similarly, discussing empathy through a book helps students gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives and experiences. By exploring real-life examples and scenarios, students learn to empathize with others and appreciate the diversity within their community. The encouragement plushies will be given to each child for their desk to remind them daily that they are valued and safe.

Also, providing snacks for hungry students not only addresses their immediate physical needs but also teaches valuable lessons about looking out for one another. Also, they can be used to reward students who are caught doing compassionate or kind acts.

In conclusion, these items collectively teach students to see the world through the eyes of others. I'll gauge students' comprehension and application of compassion through their demonstrated acts of kindness and supportive behavior towards their peers.
