My Project

We would love to create a Calming Corner for students attending our school. Our scholars are bright, creative, and diverse: we want to support the needs of our school by promoting social emotional learning, positive coping strategies, and calming techniques.

The donations to this project will help improve our scholars' understanding of SEL and promote positivity and emotional growth.

With the materials requested, such as the bean bag chairs to relax in, a nice fluffy rug to scratch that sensory itch, and toys/books to help de-escalate from big emotions, we can set up a Calming Corner for students to utilize whenever they need a break. The LED lights and galaxy lamp will help promote a calm, relaxing environment. The hands-on items, like PlayDoh and Legos, are perfect for students to use in the calming corner. Clipboards will be provided for students who’d like to draw or write down their thoughts in a journal, and timers will be provided for students to manage their time in the calm corner. Not only can this promote excellence in overall academics and school performance, but also fosters safe places and supports students to grow. This will help develop their toolkits and emphasize the importance of mental health in our lives.
