This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income high poverty school, my students athletes are faced with many challenges. Both in the classroom as well as outside the classroom. Despite such challenges the student face, I am looking to keep things simple by helping them get healthy and stay healthy. Having a healthier life can build self confidence which is what the majority of my students need. Playing basketball is what help these boys cope with the everyday struggles of their own personal lives. Many do not have the means to help fundraise for the team, nor do they have the contacts to reach in order to donate money for their personal equipment.

My Project

Our school is located in Cutler Ridge Miami, Florida. The students in the area come from all different background with low financial income. The team has had several setbacks between transfers, injuries and Hurricane Irma. We are asking for your help in order to help bring this team to its full potential.

Having the equipment necessary will help these student-athletes build their moral, and help them train properly.

The boys are also in need of matching socks and equipment for the upcoming basketball season. Fundraising has been difficult and we are a new team with a new coach. The team money the team has raised has gone to team shoes, and warm-ups leaving little to no money for equipment for the regular season.
