My Project

We are planning ahead for when it's time to go back to school. My future Battle of the Books team cannot be any more excited! They are looking forward to reading, checking out books, asking questions, collaborating, and enjoying all of the activities of the year! These young scholars enjoy reading and discussing books with each other. We want to continue to foster this community of readers by setting up a summer book club so that we can incorporate hands-on activities and field trips along with our reading each week.

In order to prepare our readers for next school year's battle, we need your help in obtaining the required reading and materials for making our team gear!

There are seven fabulous book selections that the students will read. With each book read, the students will each be given a STEM challenge that ties to the story elements within the books. For example, while reading Save Me a Seat, we will study the diversity of cultures within our local community and visit the local art museum to compare and contrast works of art from cultures around the world.

The students will also use the stories to create works of art of their own. The sublimation materials in this project will allow the students to transform their drawings from paper to pieces of art they can use every day. The journals will be used to sketchnote their thoughts and ideas while they read. The totes will be used to carry all their wonderful new books and the book marks are unique and will be loved by my 4th graders. The t-shirts will created by the students as well, and will be worn as our "team gear" for competitions during the upcoming school year.
