"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." -Albert Einstein
The students I work with are all au-some in their own way!
Each has been diagnosed with severe autism, and qualify for my specialized program specifically designed to meet their needs. Given their difficulties with communication, understanding and navigation of their world, functional skills, and academics, it is a challenge every day for them to reach their full potential! It is my belief that they each have something wonderful to offer this world, and my life's work seeks to bridge the gap that keeps them from showing us what it is. They are all geniuses, I just have to find a way to let them show us!
With your help, we can give them the tools they need to help them all become who they are meant to be!
Functional skills is a very important part of our learning day in my classroom. All of the items in this project will help improve our functional skills lessons and the overall flow the students' day. The storage cubbies and storage drawers will house all of the individual functional activities that the students are trying to master. The ability to keep everything organized labeled will greatly improve the flow of the classroom and the students will be able to practice the added skill of following a visual schedule based on the picture labels! The laminate will be used to help make the picture labels for the cubbies and the drawers.
The students thrive when there are reliable materials there for them on a daily basis and when there is consistency in their days!
This project is asking for the materials necessary to make this possible. We want to see them reaching their full potential with their day to day living skills and this is the way to do it!
