My Project
I am writing to request your support for a sensory-rich reading program that will help my students with dyslexia and other reading challenges succeed. As an educator committed to using multi-sensory approaches to teaching, I’m excited to incorporate materials that will make reading and writing come to life for my students.
In the Orton-Gillingham reading program, we focus on breaking down words and sounds through a structured, hands-on approach.
To enhance their learning experience and improve engagement, I am requesting the following materials:
The colored pencils will be used to color-code words and letters, a key element of Orton-Gillingham's multisensory technique. Red will highlight consonants, while green will be used for vowels. This simple visual cue helps students remember the connections between sounds and letters.
The folders and filing bin will help keep student supplies organized.
The Orton Gillingham book will provide students with help on their sight words.
Expo Markers will give students an opportunity to practice their encoding on white boards.
These materials will provide students with an opportunity to connect to language in a hands-on way, enhancing their learning and memory retention. By providing a multisensory learning experience, we can help our students gain confidence in their reading and writing skills.
