My Students

My students come from around the world. I have students from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Uzbekistan, Russia, China and more. My school is located in Brooklyn, NY, and it is a title one school.

This means that most of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

My students are incredible because they come from all areas of the world and work hard to assimilate and access content in a language that is foreign to them. They come from a variety of backgrounds and must not only learn the language but simultaneously absorb information in English for them only to be given the same exam at the end of the year as their native English-speaking peers.

My students are intelligent and brave. I admire their ability to succeed in our country and I want to do everything I can to ensure their success.

My Project

The majority of the students on Origins High School Dance Team are very passionate about dancing but have never had the opportunity to take a formal dance class. For example, the team would like to take the Street Jazz class at BDC.

Their talent and choreography come solely from their heart, their passion, and creativity.

As a dancer and one of their coaches, I want to share the BDC experience with them in order to inspire them and expand their horizons. Formal dance classes are quite expensive, and so this opportunity would be an endlessly valuable and memorable experience for them.
