Help Ms. Ofstie

I teach high school English Language Development (ELD) in California. My students all come from different countries and are learning English. Some of the countries represented in my classroom include China, Vietnam, Mexico, El Salvador, Burma, Indonesia, and Cambodia. My students are mixed 9th to 12th grade. I teach level 2 ELD, which is early intermediate.

We will be studying the story "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" this year, but we do not have any origami paper or patterns. In the past, I have attempted to make cranes using regular computer paper, but it did not work very well.

Having origami paper and origami pattern books in class would be the perfect accompaniment to our unit about Sadako. I would love to have authentic paper with which to make cranes and other animals with my students. By using origami books with step by step directions and origami paper, my students would have an authentic experience to compliment our study of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes."
