This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the wonderful opportunity of looping up with my same group of students. I know the students love to read. My challenge is being able to display and organize the new books we will be adding to the classroom library.

The students I work with come from a low income neighborhood in Texas.

My students have limited access to books outside of school. Our school library has a good but limited selection of chapter books for third graders, and many times some of these more popular titles are not available. I want to be able to display the new books we are adding to the classroom.

My Project

Through Donors Choose, I have been able to add a wide selection of chapter books to my classroom library. My students are excited about reading. I would like to give the students the opportunity to look through the books just like they do at the school library. The bookcases will allow me to display the books in an organized manner.

At the end of last school year, my students were thrilled when they heard someone had funded a project to add $400 worth of books to our classroom.

I am looking forward to announcing to the students that through Donors Choose, we will be receiving an additional $800 worth of books. The bookcases allow the students to see and maintain an organized classroom library.
