Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an Autistic Support Classroom that is new to the school. I work in a Title I high school in Philadelphia. The students that I work with struggle with expressive and receptive language abilities. Visuals are an essential tool to help students with autism understand their environment and express their wants and needs.

I am trying to make my classroom a second home to my students, and I focus on creating a safe, fun environment.

This "homey" environment is where we spend most of our day and it is important that we have the supplies that we need. I am thankful for all of your support!

My Project

These supplies are much needed in my classroom. For example, the clipboards are going to be used every Thursday in our Community Based Instruction trip, that way they can hold their worksheet such as scavenger hunts, their Communication Skill Guides and to hold the stores advertisement.

Most of the materials will help to arrange the organization of my student’s materials.

The headphones are helpful to reduce the students stress and anxiety. Their auditory processing disorder and sound sensitivity often have trouble processing large amounts of background noise while maintaining the ability to stay focused on the task at hand.
