My Students

I teach a group of energetic, determined and thoughtful seventh graders. They are eager to learn and love discussions and debates. As we begin the new year, I want to be able to inspire them to develop a love for reading by diversifying my classroom library and providing them with flexible seating.

I currently teach in a Title One school with over seventy-five percent of students receiving free or reduced price lunch.

Many of my students have not had the chance to explore high interest genres that will inspire them to achieve their full potential. Please help me provide these students with graphic novels and flexible seating choices.

My Project

Our classroom is a fun and engaging place for students of all abilities to learn. We have flexible seating, stress management tools, and a diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction novels. Thanks to generous donations our students are diving into our library and really benefiting from the calming environment we have created.

These book bins will help continue to organize our library.

Students will be able to more easily find books that interest them and are the appropriate reading level. The effect of this will empower students to quickly find their 'just right book.' It is the final step in creating an inclusive environment that allows all students to develop a deep love of reading.
