My Students

Being a support mathematics teacher allows me the opportunity to utilize my background in mathematics as well as special education. I am able to teach students from grades 3-6 who are struggling the most with learning grade-level mathematics. I typically work with about 8 students at a time in a small group setting that focuses on what they specifically need to help them reach the common core standards.

Many of my students are coming from low-income households or are English language learner students.

Coming from a low-income household should not be an excuse for these students to not be successful in school and they deserve all the wonderful tools to help them be successful in math.

My Project

Organization is important for a successful classroom. It is also crucial for classrooms to have basic supplies to meet the needs of students.

This project is designed to provide students with organizational materials and other crucial classroom supplies.

The requested supplies include a heavy-duty pencil sharpener as well as a classroom supply of crayons. I have also requested funding for 30 classroom pouches for students to store supplies such as pencils, scissors or the above-mentioned crayons. This will allow students to have a sense of ownership for their own materials.

In order for our classroom to feel like home, I have requested floor cushions for students to use while they are doing activities such as math games.

My hope is that providing students with organizational tools, school supplies, and classroom comfort will increase the love of learning and achievement in my classroom.
