My Students

My students are from a low-income community where all children receive free breakfast and lunch. Although this is my first year teaching, I am excited for my first graders to become a community of learners to grow and wisdom and knowledge. As I join this school, a second year turnaround school, we are determined to raise our school from the bottom 5% to the top 5%!

My focus is for these students to become leaders in their community.

My Project

As we are getting more into the year, I want my students to receive more responsibilities in the day. One way this can happen is turning in papers and collecting their own materials before leaving. Every moment in our day is precious. One of my goals is to increase our instructional time at the end of our morning and the end of the day. Paper collection is a hassle and must be organized. Using these trays and mailboxes, my students will be able to quickly turn in their work before moving on to the next part of our day. It will also help them easily receive take-home materials. This will reduce the minutes needed for dismissal at the end of the day. Every minute is important towards learning. Help us be more organized so we can have our materials ready to go!
