Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students live in a rural area of Fresno County in California. They are generally from a lower socioeconomic background and have not had the opportunity to have the experiences that others have had. Many of them are English language learners as well. It can be difficult to provide resources and other authentic experiences that can provide my students with more knowledge and background information.

Many of my students have limited experiences outside of the home or classroom.

We try to provide as much as we can here at school, so our students can have the same type of advantages and experiences as their counterparts in more economically advantaged areas. Many come from families that cannot provide even basic school supplies. Items such as pencil pouches, pencils, whiteboard markers, and pencils holders will help my students get a great start at the beginning of the year and all throughout the school year. When they know they have access to supplies in the classroom, my students can feel more confident and secure.
