Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to learn in a disorganized area. Well this is the challenge that my students have. We have learning centers in the class but no place to organize the materials needed for those centers, which makes it a disorganized area.

My students are special needs students.

They mostly come from either single parent homes or their guardians are their grandparents, or other family members. The school is a low socioeconomic school, with a total of 250 students who are mostly out of district students. My students live in a rural area which limits the amount of after school activities they can participate in. The closest city is 10 miles away and it is a small town too. Many just need something extra to do in order to not get into trouble. The students are well behaved and like to participate when the opportunity is given. Each one of my students understands the challenges each of them face daily. This does not stop them from trying though. They understand that they must strive, focus, and put forth the effort in order to overcome the hurdles set before them in life.

My Project

With having the desktop organizers and the desktop trays the students will be able to focus more on their learning and less on the clutter. This will also teach them organizational skills that they will be able to take with them when they leave my classroom. With the organizers the students will gather materials in a timely manner which will increase learning time. They will learn that if the environment is free from distractions the result is increased learning.

The key to a successful education is organization and time management.

With having the organizers both of these elements will be met. The students will be able to come in class and have their materials accessible and at their centers so they can come in and be focused. These organizers will dramatically change the learning environment my students are in. They will be able to stay engaged which will increase their learning.
