Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach beginning band and strings classes to (100!) eager students who have never had the opportunity before my class to borrow and learn how to play an instrument! Not only do they learn music skills such as reading music, clapping rhythms, and instrument technique, but they learn broader life skills. In my class, students learn how to learn a new skill, assume responsibility, and take ownership of their learning.

A large part of learning to be a musician is practicing the skills of organization and time management.

Through this project, I am asking for 96 binders (0.5 inch) for students to be able to hole punch and organize all of their worksheets, music, and reference charts in an orderly manner. Bringing this project to completion will help my students learn how to take responsibility for their learning and practice their organizational skills.
