My Students

"Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up!" - A.A. Milne. When students' desks are clean and organized so are their minds which in turn optimizes learning.

My 1st grade ICT classroom this year will consist of 19 boys and 10 girls, all with different learning, emotional, behavior disabilities as well as a handful of gifted students.

100% of my class receives free lunches, 75% of the school receives free lunch, making this a Title One school. With 29 students crammed into a small classroom, I need to be organized and I need my students to be organized, starting with their desks!

My Project

I am requesting 30 seat sacks and 1 privacy partition storage rack to keep their desk organized and free from distractions. Classroom organization affects the physical elements of the classroom, making it a more productive environment for its users. How the classroom environment is organized influences the behavior in it. The seat sacks will be used solely for reading/writing. This will allow students to easily locate books or folders needed, quickly and efficiently. Getting them ready to start their assignment without fuss, distractions or anxiety because they cannot find what they need.

Students spend most of their day at their desks, in groups or working independently, and when their desks are messy and unorganized so is their work.

They become disruptive to the other students around them because they cannot find a book, or folder or even a pencil. Some even become anxious and/or angry. These kinds of disruptions triggers behaviors. Having seat sacks to help organize their desks will optimize their learning and reduce distractions.
