My Project

I teach an inclusion preschool class that brings students with disabilities together with their typically developing peers. This program gives children from all cultures, incomes, trauma backgrounds, and abilities the opportunity to learn and thrive in an inclusive community. I strive to create and facilitate an environment where all students feel connected, valued, and loved.

This project is designed to help us organize our outside environment to maximize student learning.

The goal will be to offer students the opportunity to be independent learners, able to find and use the supplies necessary to complete various tasks. The things on this list will help us set up systems for them to be successful!

These items provide them opportunities to develop their own organizational skills, and allow them to work together as a community to keep our playground calm and in order.

For example, baskets will help us get our small items like shovels, balls, ribbons, and cones organized to ensure students can easily (and independently) select the tools they need to be successful. Carts will help us store our materials, which will allow students to take care of our classroom supplies and find what they need.

Through establishing systems of organization in our outdoor environment that can be utilized for and by students, they can both see and practice the skill, and have a comfortable and predictable environment in which to learn.
