Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each day in my classroom is filled with chaos, fun, and 20 kindergarten students. We are in the middle of a lot of changes within our classroom, and we need some revamping of organization.

My students live in the middle of a high-poverty section part of the city.

Each student in our school receives free breakfast and lunch, with several other resources offered to the families. Some of these resources include G.E.D. and English classes, the food pantry, Homework Diner, daycare options, and so much more. Our small community school provides as much as possible for our families to limit the amount of moving of the students.

My Project

My kindergarten students have extremely chaotic lives, especially for only being 5 or 6. To limit the chaos in our classroom, we need some organization. For being a second year teacher, I have been lucky to receive several donations for my classroom. As I acquire these resources, I need some way to organize my students' work, small group supplies, as well as my classroom library. With the book bins, my students will be able to find the specific books they are looking for and be able to return them with ease. They will be able to have an organized writing center, along with a place to turn their papers in.

By having a more organized classroom, my students will be able to know where things belong without having to constantly ask where to put it all.

Their days in school will run more smoothly, and they will become the independent thinkers and workers they need to be successful in the future. My students will learn that changes will need to occur in order to improve their lives if they see that I am working on it.
