This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a Title I school where more than 90% of our students meet poverty guidelines. Many of my students do not come to school with the supplies needed for a successful school year. We have wonderful students who are not in control of their own situations at home. I'd like to help supply students with what they need if they are unable to do so for themselves so they can participate in school with dignity. That is what the markers, binders, notebooks, dry erase markers, etc. will be used for. Anything not used this year will be used the following year.

Some of my current materials are worn and need replaced after years of use.

I use the dry erase pockets to cut down on paper use. I also use the Versatiles answer case as an activity for early finishers and for extra practice and support for those that need it. It is super engaging, but I only have 3 to share with the whole class. This will allow more students to access this activity. I also included a couple of books to help my students with their math fluency. I often have many students who struggle with this and I am looking for creative ways to help other than flashcards, apps, and websites.

The furniture will be used to organize student activities/assignments. We were moved into a new building (yay!) but not given sufficient ways to store and organize our materials (not even a filing cabinet!). This furniture will help me get things off the floor and have a more welcoming classroom for my students.
