Organization And Planning Are The Keys To Success

My students need student planners to help teach them the organizational skills necessary to carry them through the rest of their lives.

My Students

The majority of my students are poverty stricken with very little opportunity for life experiences outside of their own.

They are the students that want to get ahead in life, want to make a better future for themselves but do not have the means outside of school.

They are the students that although they do not have much, are grateful for what they do have and appreciative of what is given to them. They are the students, that if given the chance, will make the world a better place.

My Project

In my school, 6th grade is the last year my students have as elementary school students, in one classroom, with one teacher, before being thrust out into the world of middle school with multiple classes, teachers, books, and assignments. Often times, these students are not prepared for what lies ahead of them and often get flustered and frustrated when they realize they haven't learned how to organize their homework assignments, their long term projects. By getting them planners now in 6th grade, I can teach them the skills necessary to organize and take responsibility for their assignments and help guide them until they can utilize them independently in middle school, high school and beyond. It is a lifelong skill that is never too early to learn.
