My Students

I have the joy of working as the librarian at a school that only works with students ages three to twenty-one with severe/profound intellectual disabilities. Many of the students also have other disabilities including vision and other physical challenges. I work with all 145 students.

The motto at our school is "Those You Think Cannot... Can!" and that is something that the students show us every day.

They are some of the most amazing students that you will ever meet.

My Project

The media center at my school needs updated biographies. The Ordinary People Can Change the World series will give my students the opportunity to be introduced to motivational historical heroes. Teaching the students about historical figures will encourage them to pursue their dreams.

I want to introduce my students to the history of the world and these books are a wonderful way to do that.

The stories of these great people are a fantastic way for me and teachers to supplement social studies standards and teach character traits. We will also be able to use these books to help students master their individualized education plan.
