This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students come to math class every day knowing the expectations are for them to always do their best, be responsible, and to cooperate and treat others with dignity and respect; after all, those are our class guidelines to success. And they consistently demonstrate their desire to be successful. Having their materials organized and the supplies needed to keep things flowing efficiently allows students to focus on their learning and maximize their time. The crayon boxes, pencil pouches, scissors, magnetic erasers, and hooks will be used to make sure students have access to the supplies they need throughout the day while keeping them out of the way, but within reach. This lessens the time lost to students having to find materials or having to repeatedly pass them out. The baskets will be used to organize the workbooks, folders, and notebooks that are kept in the desks. Since two students share each desk (one for each class period), it is important that they are able to keep their desks orderly.

In order for them to be successful, they need an environment that is conducive to their success.

Not only do their student materials need to be organized, but they also need access to efficient daily tools like a working electric pencil sharpener and a stapler sturdy enough to handle regular use. The floor stickers will be used to guide them during movement activities and for games that add more fun to their learning. The glue gun and pushpin clips will help me make the classroom not only functional and organized, but also a place to showcase the work they are able to accomplish by being in an efficient learning environment. The students come willing to do the work, they just need an environment that helps them be able to do it!
