Orchestra Supplies

My Project

I know it was tough for everyone, but teaching orchestra during the pandemic was a doozy. I would hold up my violin to show the camera what finger I was using and would press my face up to the screen to a blurry image of a kid's fingers down on the instrument. I would play something and ask the 30 students on Zoom to repeat it. I couldn't fix any issues with intonation, tone, or technique because it would have to be done one...at...a...time. As we came out of the pandemic, I had students who, somehow after the struggle, still loved their instrument and loved orchestra. Except their technique was behind. We did not have the time, and I did not have the tools to get them where they should be as middle school players. The last few years I have had to be incredibly creative in finding ways to build their skills back up. Bless these kids and their patience.

I have requested tuners because they give a string player visual feedback right away on their intonation.

Having these in front of them will help the students be more aware of their intonation in relation to the orchestra.

I have also requested some other items. These items are typically bought by the student's families for the kids to use. Since the pandemic, the economic situation for parents has been rough and the orchestra program has bought these items for student who can not afford it. They get shared by multiple students across all my classes. Those items are strings, rosin, and shoulder rests. All necessary items. Thank you so much for your consideration.
