Optimizing Organization to Encourage Engagement and Efficiency!

My Project

How much time can be saved by having an organized classroom? A whole lot! When students can quickly and easily move from one activity to another, they can spend more time learning and less time looking for materials.

I have a great group of gregarious girls and boys who love to learn and like to be busy.

Although my students have pencil boxes in their desks, besides the usual writing materials, they also try to store their math manipulatives in them (foam counters, beaded counting sticks, pop-it ten frames, tens and ones, etc.), and the boxes are becoming too full. With the zippered pouches, my students can store their math tools in them and will therefore be able to locate materials from both their pencil boxes and their pouches much more quickly. I will use the larger zippered pouches to store parts and pieces for literacy and math projects. The colorful vinyl circle placemat stickers will not only keep our space organized at our small group table, giving each student a target to aim for when finding a place to sit, but the students will also use the circle placemat to write on with dry-erase makers as they practice reading and writing skills. I will be able to quickly give students additional space to write by using the handwriting rolling stamp, and the fun highlighters will motivate them to find their spelling patterns in their decodable readers each week. Optimizing organization will encourage engagement and elicit efficiency!
