Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a diverse group of students from Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, El Salvador, Mali, Ghana, Sierra Lione, and many other countries. They are very hard working and humble. More than half of our student population is learning English as a new language.

While culturally our students are diverse, economically 94% of our students come from low-income households and qualify to receive reduced price or free breakfast and lunch.

Despite the day-to-day obstacles, our students work very hard to get into well-reputed high schools within the City. In recent years, some of our alumni got accepted to New York city’s prestigious specialized high schools. My students need your support to fund resources to further their education.

My Project

I have a diverse group of students who are hungry to learn new things every day. However, as learners in the digital age, they often get bored with traditional methods of learning. Students will special needs such as ADHD students and students with learning disabilities often zone out during traditional lessons. In addition, English language learners are also often zoned out.

Hence, I need 21st-century training in order for me to meet the needs of the students in the 21st century.

I believe attending this PD with mind spark learning "Purposeful Ed Tech practices: Preparing Students for a Modern Workforce" will be an opportunity of a lifetime to learn and bring back to the classroom.
