My Students

My students and I have developed a strong bond. I have 28 beautiful children who motivate me to be the best teacher possible. They are thinkers and writers, and so much more.

My students are so special.

They are so excited to jump right into learning and they are happy to try new things. When presented with an activity, game, or lesson they are jumping up and down to respond and participate. As a teacher, it is truly inspiring to facilitate.

My Project

I follow a lot of teachers on Instagram and a mentor teacher from Texas, Mr. Gonzalez, posted about, "an opportunity of a lifetime." He said this summer he would be traveling to New Zealand on something called, Bookbag Tours, to learn from teachers and kids around the world.

I immediately thought about how going on a professional trip like this could impact my teaching, and in turn, my students.

I knew I had to apply. Schools in New Zealand are known for their mathematics instruction. My master's degree is in literacy, and so I feel this would be a meaningful and influential growth opportunity for me. I will be able to take all that I learn about reading and writing from teachers around the world and apply them in my classroom during the 2019-2020 school year. Not only will I benefit, but all my future students will as well.
