My Students

My students are more engaged when they are able to use technology to practice reading, math, and writing skills. They are faced with challenges within a fast paced global economy. These students must have many opportunities to gain equal access to information that would otherwise be inaccessible.

My students are inner city fifth graders that attend public school.

We are a Title I, Title III school, and a large percentage of our students receive free or reduced lunch. I primarily teach African American and Hispanic youth. Extras, such as a laptop, and USB/flash drives are rarely seen or used within our learning community. These students are very bright, energetic, and eager to learn. They are naturally inquisitive and thirst to be in the know. They learn best when given the opportunity to be involved with technology. Unfortunately, many of my students do not have technology in their homes, so their only opportunity for usage and exposure is when they are at school. As an experienced educator for over 3 decades, I have seen how motivating technology can be for students.

My Project

The laptop will have a major impact on my future success of my students. Students learning to utilize the latest technology will offer future success and academic growth. The device will motivate my eager learners in the 21st century. It can be used as a learning tool to reinforce reading and math skills. The laptop will offer my students many opportunities to explore and expand their mastery of the standards in our state. This laptop will open doors to learning for my students. We can use various applications for academic, comprehension skills, reading, and math activities. We can implement this exciting technology to create a versatile and engaging classroom with your donation. Please help to lead our class into the 21st century learning with the integration of the laptop.

To be a successful competitor in the 21st century my students need an laptop, and 10 USB/flash drives to reinforce the skills in the curriculum during instructional times.
