The driving force behind this request for assistance is the school's motto: "Failure is not an Option". In spite of the challenges that the faculty and administration are facing in our school, we are constantly pushing the students to achieve and perform better in high-stakes examinations and college preparations. The school is known for its close to 100% graduation rate with 96% of the graduates are in college. Recent school budget cuts are causing the faculty to use innovative means to realize the lofty goals of pushing the students to the next level. Hence, this request for an LCD projector to be used for my AP Statistics classes. There are lessons and activities that can best be performed using computer simulations, and there are useful Internet websites that the students can utilize in order to make learning more interactive and fun. My students need the LCD projector as soon as possible, and I set the target date to acquire the material by January 2010, in time for our comprehensive review for the AP Statistics exam in May. Advanced Placement (AP) classes are offered in different high schools around the country in order to prepare the students for college. If they pass the College Board examinations, they will get the college credit of that particular course. In our school, we offer at least 5 AP classes a year, and the teachers are all wanting to use the Smartboards and the available LCD projectors. Thus, if this humble request of mine is granted by generous donors, there will be one less teacher who will fight for the limited number of projectors in the school. With your help, 40 students will walk away with a college credit and a valuable lesson: that no matter what the situations are (budget cuts, struggling economy, limited resources and material, etc.) there are no excuses for failure. Thank you very much.
