My Students

Our class is an integrated co-teaching 4th-grade class located in the heart of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. My class is comprised of 19 inquisitive students that are actively questioning and analyzing the world around them. It is my goal, as their teacher, to provide my students with the best educational experiences possible. To facilitate this level of work, often times, we provide parallel learning experiences which affords our students the opportunity to work in smaller, hands-on groupings.

As a result, our classroom would benefit from having an additional smart area in our room to facilitate learning activities.

To do this, we need to purchase a 32-40 inch smart TV that would serve as a projector for on and offline learning activities. We are also in need of a document camera and a wall mount for the TV. Having this new SMART area will allow us to engage our students in many different ways. We will be able to set-up a laptop to the television to view online content which will enrich our lessons. Having a document camera will provide our students with real-time image presentations on the television which will be enlarged and more observable for student viewing.

My Project

By supporting this project, you will help build an additional smart area in our classroom that will enable our students to engage with instructional supports that match their unique learning styles.

This additional smart area will help our students by providing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic opportunities to participate in instruction.

This new area will make our representations, demonstrations, etc. more observable and interactive. We will no longer need to rely on the whiteboard easel that we have been using to support our instruction and will be able to incorporate various forms of media to enrich student learning.

The television is going to provide a space to stream on and offline content and the document camera is going to be our visual presentation device which will allow us to provide real-time image capturing of demonstrations that relate to our instructional goals. The wall mount that we are in need of will, of course, mount the TV to the wall in a way that is safe to all students that will be working in the parallel teaching area. Having this new area is going to be a tremendous resource to all who use it. Instruction will be more visible and our students will be better engaged.

Technology is today, and having another smart area in our room to support our learners will be highly beneficial to our class.
