My Students

Earlier this week, we were given the green light that summer school would be held via distance learning. For my students, we will continue to become adjusted to this new way of life. Part of this adjustment includes attempting to maintain as many norms, procedures, and routines as possible. For my students, this is how they perform best when also having to deal with learning and physical challenges that may arise. So, for the group of students who work hard for their teacher, they are pushing harder to adjust.

In addition to my students, this summer I will have the pleasure of teaching several students from our school community.

During this time, it is still critical for all students to continue to make progress with their individual educational goals, one step at a time. To continue to ease some of this anxiety, they need an environment that will closely resemble their classroom.

My Project

This experience will be unlike my regular school year experience. During the school year, I am familiar with all of the students and what works best. This summer, in addition to my students, I will encounter new students who will be getting adjusted to virtual learning as well as a new teacher. With this being the case, I am in need of a few materials to get the ball rolling!

The Rocketbook Notebook will allow me to take notes on lessons while simultaneously communicating with multiple students at one time.

Using the notebook pens, I am also able to jot down responses and record real time Q/A to be shared with students immediately after or during the lesson. This will eliminate the sound of me typing during instructional lessons. During the regular school year, students are provided with assistance with note-taking due to fine motor weakness. This notebook will allow me to take notes and share them later with students and parents. By providing the notes to students, they are able to work on increasing their fine motor skills throughout the day. These notes could also be used for quizzes and tests. The added benefit of this notebook is that worksheets and documents requiring signatures can be submitted to parents as well.

Included in this project is also a laptop stand that has dividers for school related materials. This will provide an easier access method to supplies needed for virtual instruction and one on one groups. Items such as markers, magnetic letters and numbers! I will also be able to utilize this for multiple ways of instruction.

What may seem like simple items will help me to improve my instructional delivery with my students this summer, and possibly in the fall!
