Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Almost all of the 260 plus amazing students at my school face challenges beyond what your average kid must endure. Every student receives free lunch and many are homeless. In addition they live in unsafe neighborhoods so many are not allowed to go outside. Because of their home situation and the love and acceptance, they get here, they love to come school.

The time my students spend in PE is precious for their social, emotional and of course physical development.

Your donations will go a long way to filling a great need for the equipment that will help to establish healthy habits in my students that will last a lifetime.

My Project

Due to the nature of my student's neighborhoods, their parents find it easier to keep them inside rather than risk the dangers that wait for them outside their apartments. While this keeps them safe it also stifles the kids social development and physical health. Your donations will help ensure that the students have the opportunity the experience team sports/games in a safe and secure environment.

The value of participating in team sports/activities is often minimized or dismissed.

For example, the lessons a child learns from participating in a basketball game in class are endless. Aside from the exercise they also learn teamwork cooperation and how to win and lose with dignity. Ideally, these lessons will help them develop the social skills needed to become productive members of society. The equipment you are donating will provide a wealth of these precious moments.
