Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The beautiful and talented children at P.S. 48 are inquisitive learners who are always curious and actively seeking out new discoveries. Currently my fellow teachers and myself are working on creating a special space in our school where the children can come to discover, research, and expand their knowledge. This Discovery Center will have math, literacy, and science learning centers.

Children from Kindergarten through Fifth grade will have the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the world, by engaging in learning experiences that will take place in our Discovery Center.

Students will be able to work in cooperative groups on STEM projects or when playing math games. Additionally they will increase their reading skills by using literacy centers to expand phonological and phonemic awareness. Further students writing skills will improve as they will have the chance to research topics and create pieces of work using the computers we have in our center. In fact, given we acquire the requested printer, students will be excited to share their research or projects as they will be able to print out finished work.

Please help fund us so that our schools Discovery Center is complete with the needed materials to make it an enticing educational place to visit and use as a fun learning space.
