My Students

The kindergartners in my classroom come from a wide range of life experiences; some are from very traditional two-parent working families, others may be from single-parent homes, and some are immigrants from other continents. The one thing that links them is their love of learning! My kindergartners are full of questions, excitement, and enthusiasm! They can't wait to learn and are ready to share their learning with others. Through classroom meetings, social skills lessons, modeling, and practice, we have blended into one big classroom family.

Kindergartners are excited to learn and are happy to support each other in their learning.

They cheer for each other's successes and sympathize when there are struggles. They are learning critical social skills to use as they grow.

My Project

In kindergarten it is essential to read aloud to my students daily. Selecting quality literature with diverse characters and settings is vital for student growth. Students need the opportunity to see into others' lives and also see themselves within a story. The books I have selected will allow all my students to see into other cultures and to be reflected within other stories. Having these books provides children a chance to think beyond their home or schoolroom. It broadens their perspective and provides opportunities for discussions in the classroom and at home.
