My Students

My students absolutely love to learn! However, not all of my students learn in the same way. A lot of what drives their passion for learning is the technology and resources available to them in the classroom. A classroom environment for my students that best allows them to learn is the ultimate goal.

My students are kind, diligent, and enthusiastic about entering the 4th grade.

Our school, located in Richmond, Virginia, draws many of its students from areas that face challenges on a daily basis. Many of my students are considered to be economically disadvantaged. They are provided 3 meals per day, a majority of whom receive free or reduced price lunch, as well as free breakfast and snack. A large portion of the students that attend our school live in low-income housing, and many have been witnesses to violent crime. These students need a significant amount of support in their socio-emotional development. Despite these challenges, my students arrive at school with a strong desire to learn and positive attitudes.

My Project

This technology will be used in many different ways within our classroom. Primarily, it will allow me to model and practice different reading and math strategies that my students are currently learning. However, it can be used for so much more! The camera will allow my students to clearly examine smaller artifacts and make observations about them from their seats. The document camera will allow me to display handouts, reading passages, maps, math manipulatives, and various texts. In doing so, it can help facilitate classroom discussion by having the information easily seen and accessible. This particular model will allow me to record and play back video, thus, allowing me or the students to prerecord procedures and assist with instructional delivery. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to share their work with their peers.

Adding this incredible tool to our classroom will help create a better learning environment for my students to thrive in.

It is my hope that through its proper application I can engage more students, stimulate creativity and foster academic achievement.
