Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach second grade bilingual students in Houston, Texas. My students attend school in a multi-million dollar home neighborhood. Unfortunately, my students are not as privileged as the children of this neighborhood. The majority of them live in bad apartment complexes that are filled uncertainty. I teach at a Title I school and the majority of our students come from low income homes which qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My 2nd grade students deserve to have every opportunity this world has to offer.

However, many of them are forced to face challenges and obstacles that can sometimes hold them back from reaching their goals and dreams. Please assist me to help my students reach their fullest potential.

My Project

During these uncertain times, my main focus is that my students keep learning. As this new school year will continue to be virtual the first couple of weeks, I want my students to have the technology they need to be successful. I noticed that during the spring semester of 2020 as we transitioned to virtual learning I had less than 50% of my students participating because many of my students were lacking the technology needed to join live lessons, apps, and resources.

By donating to our project, you will get one more student connected to virtual learning with a Chromebook and once we go back to the classroom all my students will benefit since it will be used for math and reading workstations.
