My Students

Our typical day starts with correcting homework, and then we move into writing workshop and word work. These basic supplies will help us throughout our day!

My third grade students attend a low-socioeconomic school in the heart of Los Angeles with school-wide Title I and 80% receive reduced or free lunch.

The school is a K-12 with around 1000 students and located near a major university. Many of the students are bussed to our location from other parts of the city. Some of their bus rides can be up to 1 1/2 hours long each way. My third graders come from many different backgrounds. Some come from Spanish speaking homes, others are receiving special education services, and most are living below the poverty level.

My Project

My students need "just the basic" school supplies including 36 pens of varied colors, 24 Erasers, 24 Utility boxes and 60 Dry Erase Pocket Packs to keep them organized and ready to learn! My students will use these materials every day. They will use the pens for writing, revising, and editing their work. The pencil boxed will keep their items together. The colored paper is used for homework logs, reading logs, and writing workshop. And erasers...for those daily errors!

Every year I purchase these items for my students.

It will be nice to be able to spend my money on classroom books and not basic materials. We will be able to maintain an organized environment! Having the basics means no more scrambling for supplies instead of learning time.
