This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you hate it when you run out of copies? Or when you just need one more copy of something? I hate having to tell my students that there is not enough copies. I want ALL my students to have access to materials and to not run short of supplies.

My students come from a low socioeconomic community.

We are in a Title 1 school where all the students qualify for the free lunch program. Although they are faced with many challenges, they are very good students who deserve a quality education. They lack materials and resources at home because their parents do not have the funds or the time to take them to the local libraries. Teachers need to provide them with extra reading materials so they can successfully complete their assignments.

My Project

Most of my students are English Language Learners and need a lot of extra support in all academic areas. A new printer/copier will help me as the teacher, provide them with the EXACT materials that would accommodate their individual needs. As it is, the copy machines are always broken down at our schools. Many times, it is difficult to supply supplementary materials to our students due to mechanical difficulties. With the limited resources in our school, coupled with increasing budget cuts, having my own printer/copier in my room would definitely help in all academic areas.
