My Students

This is my first full year of teaching. I started teaching in the classroom, January 2021. My students come from a low-income area. Over 80% of our student population receives free or reduced-price lunches. I would like to provide a learning environment where the students can come to school feeling successful. Like many other educators, I am cultivating a strong learning community.

The sense of humor, curiosity, and level of resilience that these students possess amaze me.

My students are enrolled in a Title I funded school and are in the DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) Program. They typically do not use their ears for learning, they rely heavily on what they see and feel. Because of the pandemic, it is imperative now more than ever for them to have their own materials.

My Project

Many of my students need to learn organizational habits. Having a classroom where everything has a place will assist me in teaching them this skill. By valuing organization in my classroom and teaching students to do the same, organization becomes something they learn to value

Organization is a life skill that needs to be continuously worked on in order for a student to be successful with it.

This project includes so many necessary items to assist with organization. A storage bin and organization cart will make it so much easier for us to access the supplies that we use daily. There are also wipes and hand sanitizer to help us keep the materials and our hands sanitized, after each use. We also have markers for labeling the bins; dry erase markers to only be used in the reading nook; and a power surge cord so that everything can be charged in one area and not all over the classroom. All of these materials will help my students to keep everything tidy and neat in the classroom. By utilizing these things, my students will be able to quickly recognize where items belong.
