Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music is a safe place where students develop their creativity and innovation. Within the classroom they are challenged to push themselves and think outside the box.

My students are risk-takers that are driven to strive for excellence and re-define themselves.

My classroom comes to life because of the students that enter my room. They have never let labels hold them back and continue to excel. Our school is a Title-1 campus with many of the students coming to school on our free and reduced lunch program. This does not define who my students are.

My students are eager to learn and explore more than what is just in our city, but what the world has to offer. It's important to give my students the experiences that they may not otherwise be a part of. Each year they continue to learn and grow and I get the chance to be a part of their learning.

My Project

One note shouldn't make that much of a difference, but when it comes from a bass bar it makes everything sound different. In our class we currently have the C and F contrabass bars. These bars and to our folk tunes and enable students to create harmonies while they sing their pieces.

The contrabass bar will enhance our lessons and add another element of depth that wasn't there before.

Including this bar allows us to accompany songs in a different key and create the root and third of chords to bring out harmonies. Students love to play the contrabass bars because of their low timbre.
