Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in my class were retained in third grade for the 2017-2018 school year. Their self-esteem is low, especially when they see their peers who have been promoted to the next grade. The demographics of the school is 90% Hispanic. Most students are from Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and right here in the neighborhood. This is a Title I school which means 99% of the students are on free lunch. The social economic status is poor. These students' parents do not know English which makes it hard for the student to retain the language. The students here need help in comprehension, phonics, and grammar.

My Project

"I Believe the Children are Our Future," is a song written by Whitney Houston. The One Moment In Time project will allow students to capture the events throughout the school years at this school site. This project will allow student to share special moments throughout their education. It will allow them to share them on different applications as well as the school site that is accessible for parents, district and other teachers to see how they are learning. It can be used as a tool for communicating creatively. Students are allowed to use the photos in writing this allows them to tell their story . This project can expose them to write across the world exchanging photos with other children around the world. They can create their own projects individually or collectively. This project will make writing more interesting, once we've gained their attention we can increase the knowledge of reading and writing skills.
