Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach third grade in a Title I school. My students are at or below poverty level and are living in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. All of my students qualify for a free breakfast and lunch.

My class consists of 10 amazing girls and 12 "ready to go" boys.

They enjoy being challenged academically and physically every day. They are in the Limited English Proficiency program at levels 1 and 2. My students are creative, inquisitive, hard working, and eager to learn about the world around them as well as about themselves.

In our online classes, my students work in a whole group during synchronous time and independently during asynchronous times. They encourage each other to grow and explore their wonderful world of learning.

My Project

One of the many challenges I face in the classroom is with technology. Technology is great, but it evolves so fast.

I need a laptop because the one I have belongs to the district and is old.

I need it to plan lessons, to deliver instruction to my students, and to keep up with the daily communications through emails with colleagues and parents. It is difficult to deliver lessons while my students are waiting for the programs to load. A new computer will help me to fulfill my needs and my students' needs.
