Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a special education teacher, in a 12:1 self-contained classroom in NYC, I feel so much pride in seeing my students really enjoy learning. It is amazing to see many of my students who have emotional/developmental delays thoroughly enjoy the lessons.

However, we are in an extremely low-income neighborhood, and my students can barely afford to purchase their own supplies.

I buy most of the supplies out of my own pocket, which I don't mind because they appreciate it so much. Over 95% of the students qualify for free lunch, and over 90% receive public assistance. Knowing the future of my students depends on it. I try to foster a classroom where their love for learning will grow!

My Project

We are trying to prepare for the weather changes and possible snow days spent at home. Many times, we have found that a great many of our students are not getting enough to eat at home. We want to support our families by creating weekend care packages for students to ensure that they have balanced meals throughout their time away from our school community. We are asking for donations to bring this project to life. We need your help in making this happen for the common good of our preschool community!

Your donations will go toward creating full meals and snack packs like the Chef Boy R Dee Spaghetti and Meatball mini bowls, the tuna snack packs that can be used for lunch and or dinner and the juice and treats will be used to hold them over for the in-between mealtimes.

Each child will receive their essential meal packages every Friday to ensure they have food to eat for the course of the entire weekend, so they can come to school well prepared and ready to learn and play. We want to thank you for all that you do in making class communities across the country well stocked socially/emotionally uplifted and just an all-around healthy space to be in while our students learn! Remember every donation counts in making a difference in the lives of our future leaders of tomorrow! YOU ARE THE SUPERHEROES!
