Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of very bright and eager students. They have many questions and simple answers are just not enough. I want to be able to meet their needs but I also want to teach them strategies to satisfy their inquiring minds.

My students are a very bright bunch who are in a Dual Language program.

They are a diverse group of children that include native and non-native Spanish speakers who are learning all subjects in both Spanish and English. They are inquirers who are eager to learn so much but we lack the technology to meet those needs.

My Project

My students will use these computers to satisfy their curiosity needs and do research on various topics focusing on Science and Social Studies. Instead of being bound to the limited information a book can provide, the students will use the Chromebooks and the MacBook Pro to access information in both languages and tap into the infinite knowledge that cyberspace can provide. It will allow them to develop their understanding of the world. In Science, they will discover the different types of ecosystems that exist. In Social Studies, they will learn about the different people, traditions, customs that are represented world wide. The computers will not only allow them to do the research on line, but they will also be able to make power point presentations and even videos to present to their findings to classmates. They will use the printer to print research needed for the projects and then print the reports created from the research and present to the class and parents.

This project will make a difference because my students will not only meet their curiosity needs but will also become global learners that will respect and understand that there is more than what immediately surrounds them.

Being able to go online and search the Internet on the Chromebooks and MacBook Pro will allow them to find a plethora of information that will broaden their knowledge of the world to hopefully make them aware of the endless possibilities and become well rounded human beings.
