This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are composed of individuals who rise to the occasion. Although my students are curious, hardworking, and cooperative individuals, they face many obstacles. The past school year the group that struggled the most was the group that held an IEP (Individualized Education Program). I remember how much this group of students struggled with acclimating to distance learning. Often the root of the problem was frustration with learning new technology compounded with my older laptop that often could not handle new applications required to smoothly transition to remote teaching. Regardless, their intrinsic motivation and my long lesson planning days made it possible to see everyone succeed.

As the month of December approaches, I want to continue helping all my students successfully finish their first remote learning semester.

My Project

This computer will provide me with the much-needed tool to deliver rich interactive lessons for years to come. I currently have a Chromebook that was loaned to me by my school, but it does not have the needed power to help me deliver a rich interactive lesson to my students.

An upgraded computer will help me stream rich interactive lessons to my students in order to help them visualize the science concepts being covered.

Ideally, I would like each of my students to have an updated reliable computer at home to interact with the lessons, but it is not cost-effective. They currently have loaner Chromebooks from school that for the most part do a good job at browsing simple websites and completing their writing assignments online, but can't handle some of the demands interactive websites require. That is why I am asking for your assistance in helping me obtain a computer that would allow me to stream rich interactive websites through video conferences where my students can see the concepts at hand.
