My Students

One of my 7th grade students from my English as a New Language class is a recent newcomer to the country who does not have any technology at home, and therefore, has not been able to continue his education as we've transitioned to online instruction amidst the coronavirus outbreak.

This student signed up to get an iPad from the DOE, but with such great demand and so few devices available, we don't know if/when he will receive one.

He cares about his academic progress and truly wants to keep learning. He simply does not have the resources to do so during these unprecedented times when schools and libraries are closed.

My Project

My student has missed a week and a half of online instruction already, as he waits for a device from the DOE. He doesn't want to fall any further behind. Getting a Chromebook would allow him to continue his English language acquisition as he also works to read and write on grade level before entering high school. This is a critical time in his educational career that will shape his future in high school, college and beyond. Please consider donating to my project as an opportunity to increase educational equity by giving a motivated learner the tools he needs to succeed, despite his family's financial circumstances.
